Blueprints: God's Brilliant Design in Genesi
Small Group Study:Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."
God made us in his own image. Sin has marred the image of God in us but God, who has saved us, is powerfully at work in us, conforming us to the image of his Son Jesus Christ. Jesus is the perfect man, the perfect image of invisible God.
Romans 8:29 "For those whom [God] foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
1 John 2:6 "... whoever says he abides in [Jesus] ought to walk in the same way in which he walked."
Q: What area of your life is God conforming into the image of Jesus? (Example: anger, lust, gossip, love for others, etc.)
All humans are made in the image of God and therefor have dignity, value, and worthy. Though some may be judged to have little worthy according to worldly standards, everyone is precious and valuable to God. As Christians we must treat all humans with dignity and justice and seek to protect victims of injustice.
James 1:27-2:1; 3:9-10 "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. ... ... With [our tongue] we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so."
Q: Who are the victims of injustice in our society today? Q: How can you love those who are mistreated or of low status?
