Get to know Sarah…
Thank you for wanting to get to know me, and considering contributing to my short-term mission trip to Japan!
I was born and raised in Southern California, I am the oldest of four children, and I grew up in the church.
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are ones of adults telling me that “singing was my calling.” Well, I had no idea what that meant at the time. For years I sang my heart out in church, theatre, weddings, funerals, you name it. The accolades were great, but it still felt hollow and often lonely. God started to show me that there was a difference between performing and worshiping; a difference between being raised in the church and individually choosing to follow Christ. It was these revelations that led me to make my faith my own and become a baptized Christian.
When I choose to worship my personal Savior, it is then that I truly began to experience and connect with the heart of God. Once I opened myself to experiencing the Holy Spirit through music, making it about God’s worthiness of praise and not my vocal talent, my whole world changed. That is when I finally understood the Lord’s promise to me as a child--that He would use my voice to proclaim His Name. Finally my “calling” made sense. There is nothing more powerful to me than praising the Lord through music. My heart is to share that music wherever I can, especially with those who have yet to hear about His saving grace that changed my life and the reason why I sing.
Sarah has served on the worship team of every church she’s been a part of from childhood to the present, including: Newport Vineyard (Newport, CA), The Cornerstone (Anaheim, CA), Mad City Church (Madison, WI), and Rock Harbor (Orange, CA).
Sarah grew up in the church, but she also grew up in the theatre, performing in over a dozen musicals, including “Annie”, “The Sound of Music”, and “Anne of Green Gables”. Her favorite roles included the title role in “Peter Pan" and the Narrator in “Joseph…”.
But singing has not been her only hobby. Dance has also been a large part of her life, though not much recently. She performed as a dancer for many companies and productions, including a group called “Freedom Feet”, a patriotic dance troupe that was formed after 9/11 for the purpose of entertaining Military families at Military events throughout Southern California.
For the past several years, Sarah has been the lead vocalist and back-up singer for two different bands based out of Orange County, California. Currently, she is the lead vocalist for the band “A Sunday Kind of Love”, who plays at various cafes, wine bars and coffee houses in Orange County.
